The Interlude

Before I launch into all of the BIG NEWS of the day, I thought I'd take a step back and mention that our trip to Berkeley was great.  We got to see my sister not only graduate from UC Berkeley, but give the valedictorian speech for her program.  It was magical.  So so so proud.  And we got to spend some time with family, and wandering around looking at things.   There's always so much good eye candy in California...

Some of my very favorite things to see were in my sister's studio building.  It is pretty great to see the little scraps of art left behind after people make some really great art.

It was just an awesome place to be... we got to hang out while my sister ran a really impressive laser cutting machine to make these huge banners to be hung in a store front window that was featuring the work she did with students at a local school... they were also involved in her MFA show piece.  It was great to see them and to ear them talk about their work and experience in making the project.

We also ate and ate and ate and ate... such good food.  It was a pretty nice break before returning to the housing madness...

We ended the trip with the most perfect meal at a restaurant in Sausalito called The Fish.  It was right on the water, literally on a pier, and we had the best cold cold beer and fish specialties.  Such a nice end to a nice trip.  My only regret is that we didn't have more time to relax, but there was so much fanfare that we were celebrating pretty much the whole way through... not too shabby!
